These delicious caramel bars are soft, buttery, and layered with rich, gooey caramel and chocolate for an easy homemade dessert everyone will love.
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth.
4. Add flour, oats, baking soda, and salt, then mix until crumbly dough forms.
5. Press half of the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan.
6. Bake for 10 minutes.
7. In a saucepan, melt caramel candies with heavy cream over low heat until smooth.
8. Remove crust from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over it.
9. Pour melted caramel over the chocolate chips.
10. Crumble remaining dough over the caramel layer.
11. Return to oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden.
12. Let cool completely before slicing into bars.
Notes
Use parchment paper for easy removal.
Do not overbake to keep bars soft.
Chill slightly for cleaner cuts.
Add chopped nuts for extra crunch.
