Description

Texas Roadhouse Smothered Chicken is juicy, savory, and loaded with flavor. Tender grilled chicken breasts are smothered in sautéed onions, mushrooms, and melted cheese for a restaurant-style dinner that’s easy to recreate at home and guaranteed to satisfy.


Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

2 tbsp olive oil

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

For the topping:

1 tbsp butter

1 onion, sliced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese

Optional garnish:

Fresh parsley


Instructions

1. Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

3. Cook chicken 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

4. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

5. Add onions and cook until soft and lightly caramelized.

6. Add mushrooms and sauté until tender and browned.

7. Return chicken to the skillet.

8. Spoon onion and mushroom mixture over each piece.

9. Sprinkle generously with cheese.

10. Cover skillet and cook 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted.

11. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
