Ingredients
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 small onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 cups cooked white rice
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
Instructions
1. Season chicken breasts with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Add chicken and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked.
4. Transfer chicken to a plate and keep warm.
5. Reduce heat to medium and melt butter in the same skillet.
6. Add sliced onions and cook for 5 minutes until soft and caramelized.
7. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
8. Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir well for 1 minute.
9. Slowly pour in chicken broth while whisking constantly.
10. Stir in heavy cream and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until the gravy thickens.
11. Return chicken to the skillet and spoon gravy over the top.
12. Simmer for 5 minutes until heated through.
13. Serve smothered chicken over cooked rice and garnish with chopped parsley.
