Ingredients
3 pounds beef chuck roast
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
6 sandwich buns
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, optional
Pickles, optional
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Sear beef chuck roast on all sides until browned.
3. Place the roast in the slow cooker.
4. Add beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours.
6. Remove beef from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
7. Return shredded beef to the slow cooker and toss with the juices.
8. Toast sandwich buns if desired.
9. Pile shredded beef onto buns.
10. Top with cheddar cheese and pickles if desired.
11. Serve warm.
Notes
Chuck roast works best because it becomes tender and juicy.
Add extra barbecue sauce for a sweeter sandwich.
Use leftovers in tacos, nachos, or baked potatoes.
For extra flavor, toast the buns before serving.
