Description

These creamy, cheesy Potatoes Au Gratin are inspired by Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Thinly sliced potatoes baked in a rich cheese sauce until golden and bubbly – the ultimate comfort side dish.

Ingredients

3 cups thinly sliced potatoes

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

1 1/2 cups milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic (minced)

Salt & pepper to taste

Optional: chopped parsley

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.

2. Melt butter in a pan, then whisk in flour to form a roux.

3. Gradually add milk and cream, stirring until smooth.

4. Add garlic, salt, and pepper.

5. Stir in cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted.

6. Layer sliced potatoes in the baking dish.

7. Pour cheese sauce evenly over the potatoes.

8. Cover and bake for 40 minutes.

9. Uncover and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.

10. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Slice potatoes evenly for consistent cooking.

Use Gruyère cheese for a richer flavor.

Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

Perfect side for steak or chicken.
