Description

This Delicious Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf is juicy, cheesy, and packed with savory flavor! With sautéed onions, bell peppers, and melted provolone, it’s a fun twist on the classic cheesesteak sandwich — baked into a hearty meatloaf everyone will love.

Ingredients

**For the Meatloaf Mixture**

2 lbs ground beef (85–90% lean)

1 small onion, finely diced

1 green bell pepper, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp olive oil

½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)

½ cup milk

2 eggs

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

**For the Filling**

6 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese

**For the Topping**

½ cup shredded provolone or mozzarella

¼ cup sautéed onions & peppers (optional for garnish)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment or lightly grease it.

2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers; sauté 4–5 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook another 30 seconds. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and sautéed veggies. Mix until just combined (don’t overmix).

4. Divide the mixture in half. Press one half into the prepared loaf pan.

5. Layer provolone slices evenly over the meat mixture.

6. Top with the remaining beef mixture, sealing the edges around the cheese.

7. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

8. Remove from oven and sprinkle with shredded cheese and optional sautéed peppers.

9. Return to oven for 5 minutes until cheese melts.

10. Rest 10 minutes before slicing — then serve your cheesy, savory, Philly-inspired meatloaf masterpiece!

Notes

Use lean beef for the best balance of flavor and texture.

Add mushrooms or hot peppers for a more authentic cheesesteak flavor.

This meatloaf freezes beautifully — slice and store for easy reheating.

Serve with mashed potatoes or garlic bread for a full meal experience.
