Ingredients
For the Bread Base:
4 cups bread cubes (day-old bread)
For the Custard:
2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
3 eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Pecan Topping:
1 cup pecans
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
Optional:
Caramel sauce
Whipped cream
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
2. Place bread cubes evenly in the dish.
3. In a bowl, whisk milk, cream, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread and let soak for 10 minutes.
5. In another bowl, mix pecans, brown sugar, and melted butter.
6. Sprinkle the pecan mixture over the soaked bread.
7. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until set and golden.
8. Let cool slightly before serving.
9. Optional: drizzle with caramel sauce or add whipped cream.
Notes
Use day-old bread for best texture.
Do not overbake to keep it soft inside.
