Description

This delicious hot chocolate poke cake is ultra-moist, rich, and packed with cozy cocoa flavor. Topped with a dreamy whipped marshmallow frosting, it tastes just like a cup of hot chocolate in dessert form — perfect for parties, holidays, and chocolate lovers!

Ingredients

FOR THE CAKE:

1 box chocolate cake mix (plus required eggs, oil, and water)

1 cup hot chocolate, prepared and warm

1 cup hot fudge sauce, warmed

FOR THE WHIPPED MARSHMALLOW FROSTING:

1 jar marshmallow creme (7 oz)

2 cups cold heavy whipping cream

½ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Mini marshmallows or chocolate shavings for topping

Instructions

1. Prepare cake mix according to package directions and bake in a 9×13 pan.

2. While still warm, poke deep holes all over the cake using the handle of a wooden spoon.

3. Slowly pour warm hot chocolate over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.

4. Drizzle warm hot fudge sauce evenly over the top and gently spread. Let cake cool completely.

5. In a mixing bowl, beat cold heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, beating until fluffy.

6. Fold in marshmallow creme gently until smooth and cloud-like.

7. Spread frosting generously over cooled cake and top with mini marshmallows or chocolate shavings.

8. Chill 30–60 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts and extra moisture.

Notes

Replace hot fudge with chocolate syrup for a lighter option.

For stronger cocoa flavor, dust cocoa powder on top before serving.

This cake tastes even better after chilling overnight.

A great party dessert — feeds a crowd and stores beautifully in the fridge.
