Description

Honey BBQ chicken mac and cheese is an easy and delicious comfort food recipe made with tender chicken, smoky BBQ sauce, creamy cheese sauce, and perfectly cooked pasta.


Ingredients

2 cups elbow macaroni

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded

1/2 cup honey BBQ sauce

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and black pepper to taste

1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

Optional Topping:

1/2 cup shredded cheese

1/4 cup crispy bacon bits


Instructions

1. Cook macaroni according to package directions, drain, and set aside.

2. In a bowl, toss shredded chicken with honey BBQ sauce until coated.

3. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

4. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes.

5. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth and thickened.

6. Stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted.

7. Add garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

8. Fold in cooked macaroni and BBQ chicken until evenly combined.

9. Transfer to a baking dish if adding toppings.

10. Sprinkle extra cheese and bacon bits on top if desired.

11. Bake at 375°F for 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

12. Garnish with green onions and serve warm.


Notes

Use rotisserie chicken for convenience.

Adjust BBQ sauce amount for stronger or milder flavor.

For extra creaminess, add a splash of heavy cream.

Skip baking if you prefer a stovetop version.
