Ingredients
**For the Filling:**
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup diced carrots
1/2 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup diced potatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon flour
Salt & pepper to taste
**For the Crust:**
1 sheet puff pastry or 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Add onion and garlic. Sauté 2–3 minutes until softened.
4. Stir in carrots, potatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and flour. Cook 2–3 minutes.
5. Pour in beef broth and simmer for 10–12 minutes, until veggies are tender and mixture thickens. Add peas in the last 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Transfer filling to a greased 9-inch pie dish or baking dish.
7. Top with puff pastry or pie crust. Crimp edges and cut slits in the top for steam to escape.
8. Brush with egg wash and bake 25–30 minutes or until golden and bubbling.
9. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
• For extra richness, add a splash of red wine with the broth.
• Swap beef for ground turkey or mushrooms for a lighter option.
• Make individual pies using ramekins or muffin tins.
