Description

These Crispy Fried Falafel are packed with fresh herbs, chickpeas, and bold Middle Eastern spices. Golden and crunchy on the outside with a soft flavorful center, this easy recipe is perfect for wraps, bowls, or appetizers.


Ingredients

1 1/2 cups dried chickpeas (soaked overnight, not canned)

1/2 cup fresh parsley

1/2 cup fresh cilantro

1 small onion, roughly chopped

3 cloves garlic

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon coriander

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons flour

Oil for frying


Instructions

1. Drain soaked chickpeas and pat them dry.

2. Add chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onion and garlic to a food processor.

3. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms.

4. Add cumin, coriander, baking soda, salt, black pepper and lemon juice.

5. Pulse again until combined but not smooth.

6. Transfer mixture to a bowl and stir in flour.

7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

8. Form the mixture into small balls or patties.

9. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).

10. Fry falafel in batches for about 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

11. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

12. Serve warm with pita bread, tahini sauce, or salad.


Notes

Do not use canned chickpeas as they are too soft for falafel.

Chill the mixture to help it hold together أثناء القلي.

Bake or air fry for a healthier version.

Serve with hummus, tahini, or yogurt sauce for extra flavor.
