Description

These Easy Frosted Texas Brownies are rich, fudgy, and irresistibly chocolatey! Baked on a sheet pan and topped with warm chocolate frosting, they’re the perfect chewy dessert for feeding a crowd or satisfying any sweet craving.

Ingredients

For the Brownies :

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup water

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups granulated sugar

½ tsp salt

1 tsp baking soda

½ cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Frosting :

½ cup (1 stick) butter

¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ cup milk

3½ cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 15×10-inch sheet pan or jelly roll pan.

2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add cocoa powder and water. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat.

3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.

4. Pour the warm cocoa mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well.

5. Add sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until fully combined and smooth.

6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

7. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

8.

9. **For the Frosting:**

10. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add cocoa powder and milk, whisking until smooth.

11. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar and vanilla until creamy.

12. Pour warm frosting over hot brownies and spread evenly.

13. Let cool slightly before slicing — the frosting will set into a rich, glossy layer of chocolate perfection!

Notes

Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the batter for crunch.

Use buttermilk instead of sour cream for a tangier flavor.

For a mocha twist, add 1 tsp instant coffee granules to the frosting.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days — they taste even better the next day!
