Ingredients
8 slices white sandwich bread, crusts removed
1/2 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 green onions, chopped
1 egg white
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional for creamier texture)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Oil for frying (or brushing for baking)
Instructions
1. In a food processor, blend shrimp, green onions, egg white, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cornstarch until a smooth paste forms.
2. Spread a thin layer of the shrimp paste evenly on each slice of bread.
3. (Optional) Sprinkle sesame seeds over the shrimp mixture for extra crunch.
4. Cut each slice into triangles or quarters.
5. Heat 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat (350°F / 175°C).
6. Fry toasts shrimp-side down first for 2–3 minutes, then flip and fry another 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
7. For a lighter version: Brush with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes until crisp and golden.
