This easy chicken korma recipe features tender chicken simmered in a rich, creamy, spiced sauce served with rice or flatbread for a comforting and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds boneless chicken, cut into pieces
2 tablespoons oil or ghee
1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, grated
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup coconut milk or heavy cream
1/4 cup ground almonds
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon coriander
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup chicken broth
Fresh cilantro, chopped
Cooked rice or flatbread, for serving
Instructions
1. Heat oil or ghee in a large pan over medium heat.
2. Add chopped onion and cook until soft and golden.
3. Stir in garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute.
4. Add spices including garam masala, curry powder, turmeric, cumin, and coriander.
5. Add chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned.
6. Stir in yogurt, coconut milk or cream, and ground almonds.
7. Pour in chicken broth and mix well.
8. Cover and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until chicken is tender and sauce thickens.
9. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
10. Garnish with fresh cilantro.
11. Serve warm with rice or flatbread.
Notes
Use cashew paste instead of almonds for a richer texture.
Marinate chicken in yogurt for extra tenderness.
